Worship

Worship is at the heart of our community's life, for it is a time where we encounter and commune with the Living God:  Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Out of our worship flows the rest of our Christian life and ministry.  It is an invitation from God to stand before His throne through Jesus Christ and in the power of the Holy Spirit, and to join with the whole church on earth and the whole host of heaven to praise God for the created world, the redemption won for us in Jesus Christ, and the ministry that God continues to carry out in us through the Holy Spirit. When we worship, we trust that the Lord is truly present in this place, especially because He is present in us.

In terms of what happens in worship, our service flows out of the Presbyterian tradition - and everything happens for a reason.  While we have a structured order of worship, we are not rigid in our approach.  We try to provide a balanced atmosphere, which is both reverent toward God and enables the people of God to enter into worship.  While we use a hymnal and an organ, we also make use of modern contemporary music, media and technology in worship as well. We also incorporate ancient Christian rituals and liturgy that help us to connect with the Church throughout all ages. We are also trying to be more mindful of the changing world, and so we try to offer a worship service that, regardless of style and traditions, is meaningful, relevant, and, above all, leads us to worship to the Triune God.

As is the hallmark of the Presbyterian tradition, you will hear the Scriptures read, proclaimed, and sung.  The Sacraments are also a part of our worship, with the Lord’s Supper on the first Sunday of each month.  The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated whenever new persons are welcomed into the Kingdom and family of God.  For us, the service of Word and Sacrament provide us with a chance to encounter God and to experience His presence, His grace and His love.

And, of course, children are an integral part of worship also.  Children are invited to be present with us in worship through the children's sermon.  During the Scripture lessons and sermon, we offer nursery care for children under the age of five (5).  The children can go to the nursery during the sermon time to hear God's Word in their own language; they return following the sermon to continue their worship with us.
