Fellowship & Hospitality

As new folks have visited and joined with us at Bessemer, one common theme is often heard as visitors leave on Sunday morning:  the congregation is so friendly.  We at Bessemer believe this to be one of our callings as a community of faith:  to be hospitable.  We strive to do this in many ways, and we try to discover new ways to go about it.  We try to have some kind of congregational fellowship event once each month or two.  We have hosted potluck suppers, game show nights, church picnics, and even a few musical ensembles, to name a few.

Our ladies tend to be quite busy during the week.  They prepare and serve dinner for the Bessemer Rotary Club each Thursday evening.  There is also a Women’s Association as well. We also have ladies who love to quilt, and every Thursday morning they gather to quilt and share lunch together.  Currently, they have fourteen quilts to complete for various folks.  There is a Women’s retreat the first weekend of each month, where many ladies bring projects and crafts to work on.  We also have a group that makes quilts for another church in town to take on their mission trips to Appalachia each summer.
