Before ascending into heaven, Jesus left his followers a commission to “make disciples of all nations” (Matt. 28:18-20). At Bessemer, we are committed to teaching the Scriptures as God’s written Word and helping folks to encounter God through them, thus fulfilling that Great Commission.
Our Sunday school program, called "Sunday L.I.G.H.T." meets at 9:30AM on Sunday mornings. The following classes are offered:
Wee Lambs - This is a special class for our pre-kindergarteners and kindergartners. It will be led by Mary Kay Joynson. It will meet in the nursery.
Wee KIDS - This is a special class for our elementary school age children in grades 1-5. It will be led by Rhodell Magnone and will also meet in the nursery.
S.M.A.S.H. - this is our teen Sunday school class and also our new youth group name. It stands for “Students in Ministry for And Study of Him.” Along with the Young Adults, they will be studying a new curriculum called “The Greatest Story” which is an introduction to the Bible. This is for those in grades 7-12. It will be led by Pastor Nathan and Tawnya Curatola and will meet in the Youth Room.
The 4G Network or just 4G - which stands for “Growing in God’s Grace and Going Forth.” This is our younger adults class. They are currently leading a discussion on what it means to be a member of our church. It will be led by Pastor Nathan and Tawnya Curatola and will meet in the Youth Room.
The Adult Disciples Class - is a class for our older adults. They will be studying the sermon texts from the preceding weeks. Paul Hawkins will lead this class and it will meet downstairs in the lounge/library (downstairs off the overflow room of the fellowship hall).
Also, the Jr./Sr. High Youth group called S.M.A.S.H. meets the second and fourth Sunday of each month from 6PM to 7:30PM.
We also offer several Bible Studies. The first of these is an Adult Bible study for all ages, that is studying Paul's letter to the Ephesians. The Bible Study groups meets the first and third Thursday afternoons at 2:00PM in the lounge area.
There 4G Network Bible Study (for young adults) that meets on the third Monday of each month. They will meet for a potluck dinner at 6:30PM and for study at 7:00PM. Childcare is provided. We are studying Paul's letter to the Romans.
Currently, our Discipleship committee (which handles Worship and Christian Education) meets on the last Thursday of each month at 7:30PM.
