  • Today, December 10 is Project HOPE Sunday!  The following items are needed: Cereals, Pancake Mix, Syrup, and/or any other non-perishable items are welcomed.  Monetary donations are also accepted; or checks made out to Project HOPE Food Bank, and give to Ruth Ann Herman.

  • Bible Study is on Monday, December 11, and Wednesday, December 13, 10 am at MOCO House.

  • Volunteers Needed:  You are invited to share Christmas Joy-feedMysheep Ministries is inviting volunteers to come help with their Christmas Give-Away.  On Wednesday, December 13 volunteers are needed at 10 am to sort and arrange gifts for the Christmas Give-Away.  On Saturday, December 16 from noon until 4 pm volunteers are needed to give away presents and toys to the feedMysheep clients and families.  Rides will be provided for anyone interested in helping.  Please consider spreading joy to those who often don’t see love at Christmas.  Please see any member of the Mission Committee if you are interested.

  • Midweek Advent Coloring Night on Wednesday, December 13, and 20 from 5:30 pm-7:00 pm at the church.  Everyone of any age is welcome.  There will be a small devotional time reflecting on each of the banners.

  • 4 G Christmas Party on Saturday, December 16, 7 pm at the home of Howard & Tina Leslie.

  • Beginning next Sunday, December 17 through the end of the year the Evangelism and Mission Committee will collect the Christmas offering for Feedmysheep in New Castle, PA. This local organization works within Lawrence County as well as the New Castle community to provide food, clothing, and household items to those in need. They also have several services during the week for their community followers to grow spiritually and emotionally.  FeedMysheep is housed in an old church and their utility bills for the winter tend to be very high and difficult to pay. We are supporting a collection to help relieve some this financial stress for this coming winter. Please consider supporting this organization, which we have partnered with for the last 5 years.

  • Cookie Sunday is coming:  Next Sunday, December 17, please bring a tray or 2 of cookies during the Sunday school hours and drop them off downstairs.  Then after church you can box up the cookies and either take them home to a loved one or send them to be delivered to our shut-ins.  We will also have time to color the banner after worship.

  • Join us on Sunday, December 17 at 4 pm for “A Night in Bethlehem” an event for the whole family to experience the bustling Bethlehem marketplace during the birth of Jesus.  Hosted by Bessemer Presbyterian CliCK.

  • Christmas Caroling at MoCo:  Bethel Church is hosting this event.  ALL are welcome to join us!  Stop by tomorrow evening, December 11, 7 pm-8 pm to join in the caroling and grab a warm drink!

  • Christmas floral centerpiece class with Butterfly Wish Bouquets at MOCO House this Tuesday, December 12 from 6:30 pm-7:30 pm.  Design Your Own Holiday Centerpiece!  We'll start by creating a basic candle centerpiece of assorted holiday evergreens.   • Christmas Marimba with Mohawk students at MOCO House this Wednesday, December 13, 6 pm-7 pm.

  • MOCO House 3rd Anniversary Celebration this Saturday, December 16,   7 pm-9 pm.  Come celebrate our 3rd Anniversary with a night of music, food, and socializing.  $10 per person cover charge covers a drink, snack appetizers, and dessert.  There will be a large gift basket available for raffle.

  • Poland Presbyterian Church will present A Musical Celebration of Christmas entitled: “O Come, All Ye Faithful on Sunday, December 17, 6:30 pm at Poland Presbyterian Church in Poland, OH.  Refreshments will follow.  All donations to benefit the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley.

  • The Loose offering today, December 3will go to the Deacons’ to aid in their ministry.

  • A Congregational Meeting will be held following worship today, December 3.  The purpose of this meeting is to elect officers for 2018.  The slate of officers for a (3 year term) is: Elders: Velvet Henry and Jim Schiffauer.  Deacons:  Dorothy Hawkins and Nancy Roberts.  Nominating Committee for 2018:  Roberta Gibson, Tina Leslie, Brad McKim, and Mickie Snyder.  Auditor:  Phyllis Penwell.

A special Veterans Day program will be held at Bethel Evangelical Presbyterian Church this evening, November 12 at 5 pm.  Patriotic songs, Poetry, Prayers, Music from our choir, Pam Gretsinger, Echo Valley, Instrumentalists, and More!  Following the program, everyone is invited to a Veterans Day Dinner to be held in the Fellowship Hall.

Mohawk Area Church Association’s Thanksgiving Service will be held next Sunday, November 19, 7 pm at Christ the King Parish (St. Anthony’s) in Bessemer.

  • Today, November 5 is All Saints Sunday and we are remembering with thanksgiving the members who died in the last year:  Alma Myers, Bernice Proctor, Carol Thomas and Betty Zatkovic.

  • Today, November 5 is the final day to contribute to the Deacon’s Mohawk Fire Fund for Jenna Abraham Rush & Family of Mahoning Township, PA.  Jenna lived there with her 3 children:  An 8 year old son, Imanii, A 4 year old daughter, Ameria and also A 10 month old daughter, Raiyen.

  • Today, we welcome as our new accompanist, Mr. Nathan Parrott!  Nathan is no stranger to our congregation, as his first paid accompanist job was as at Bessemer Presbyterian Church several years ago.  He has also filled in for us on occasion over the years since.  Nathan grew up in the Mohawk community and is a graduate of both Grove City and Geneva Colleges.  In addition to work as a substitute teacher, Nathan has also worked in food service, currently as a Crew Member/Crew Trainer at Chic-fil-A.  He also enjoys dance and has worked as a dance teacher and choreographer as well.  We are delighted to welcome him back to our congregation to share his talents with us and assist us in our worship of God.  Welcome Nathan, and God bless!

Evangelism & Missionary Committee Apple Dumpling Fundraiser

Have you satisfied that apple dumpling

craving in these chilly months?

 No?!  Well good!  Then you’ve come to the

right bulletin!

The Evangelism and Missionary Committee is planning to set up a fundraiser selling homemade apple dumplings.  You can buy them frozen and eat them whenever you desire.

We would like to start taking orders now and will plan on them being available for pickup starting Saturday, October 14th, from 10am-2pm, and again on Sunday, October 15th from 12pm-2pm after service.

We would appreciate any ingredients that can be donated.   Please see a member of the committee for amounts.  We will need:

  1. Flour

  2. White Sugar

  3. Crisco (the brand) Sticks

  4. Butter

  5. Freezer Gallon Ziploc Bags

  6. Cornstarch

We plan on selling the dumplings for:

  • 6 dumplings for $12

  • 2 dumplings for $4

The profit we make will go to our end-of-year donations to our international missionaries and our local organizations.

Ham Loaf Dinner

Our Ham Loaf Dinner is scheduled for Saturday, October 21 from 5 pm-7 pm.  The cost is Adults $ 10.00, Children 6-12 $ 5.00 and 5 and under are FREE.  A     limited number of tickets will be available at the door.  For tickets call the church office 724-667-7255.  The proceeds from the Ham Loaf Dinner will go to the General Fund.      

We are asking for donations to defray the cost.  Please see the sign-up sheet in the Narthex for donation items and volunteering. 

Any monetary donations can be given to Karen Hutch or Roberta Gibson.

Welcome

Next Sunday, October 1 we welcome as our new accompanist, Mr. Nathan Parrott!  Nathan is no stranger to our congregation, as his first paid accompanist job was as at Bessemer Presbyterian Church several years ago.  He has also filled in for us on occasion over the years since.  Nathan grew up in the Mohawk community and is a graduate of both Grove City and Geneva Colleges.  In addition to work as a substitute teacher, Nathan has also worked in food service, currently as a Crew Member/Crew Trainer at Chic-fil-A.  He also enjoys dance and has worked as a dance teacher and choreographer as well.  We are delighted to welcome him back to our congregation to share his talents with us and assist us in our worship of God.  Welcome Nathan, and God bless!

  • Today, September 10 is Project H.O.P.E. Sunday!  The following items are needed for Project HOPE: Canned Soup and Crackers, and/or any other non-perishable items are welcomed.  Monetary donations are also accepted; please make checks payable to Project HOPE Food Bank, and give to our HOPE Representative:  Ruth Ann Herman.

  • Nominating Committee will meet on Tuesday, September 12 at 7:00 pm.   The committee members are Sally Cunningham, Ruth Ann Herman (Chairperson), Howard Leslie, Rhodell Magnone, and Brunita McKim.     

  • PW Gathering is Wednesday, September 13 at 7:00 pm.  The executive board will meet before the meeting.  Join us for a time of meeting, devotions and fellowship.

  • We welcome Rev. Dr. Ralph Hawkins as our guest speaker next Sunday, September 17.  Dr. Hawkins is our Executive Presbyter and Stated Clerk of our Shenango Presbytery.

  • We joyfully will celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism for Carson Jacob Leslie next Sunday, September 17.  He is the son of Pastor Nathan & Mary Kay Leslie.  God bless you, Carson!

  • There will be a Coffee Hour after worship next Sunday, September 17 in the over flow room next to the sanctuary.

  • The deadline to submit information for the October 2017 newsletter is next Sunday, September 17. The October 2017 newsletter will be passed out on Sunday, September 24.

  • 4G Bible Study will meet Monday, September 25, 6:30 pm at MOCO House.

  • Presbytery meeting on Tuesday, September 26, 6:30 pm at Lebanon Presbyterian Church, Mercer, PA.

  • The Evangelism and Missionary Committee will be taking a special offering for Celebrate Sudan on Sunday, October 1 and Sunday, October 8.

  • Celebrate Sudan will be hosting an event at MoCo House on Sunday, October 1 at 6pm.  All are welcome to attend!  A speaker from South Sudan will also be joining.  Food and Drinks will be provided/available.  Any loose offering collected that night will go to our sister church in South Sudan, The South Sudan Presbyterian Evangelical Church, to help provide hunger relief. 

  • Help Needed with Technology in Worship:  Do you wish to find a way to help with worship?  Do you have an interest in operating the sound system and/or projection during worship?  If so, we could use a few volunteers to help out occasionally with these aspects of the worship service.  If interested, please speak to Pastor Nathan or Brad McKim.

  • The 46th Annual Church Basement Sale will be held Thursday-Saturday September 14-16 from 9 am-3 pm at Enon Presbyterian Church in Enon Valley, PA. Please come and check out our Books & Media Room;  our Lunch Counter featuring a different homemade soup daily; our Bake Sale; and of course all of our wonderful treasures. Nearly 70% of the money brought in by the sale supports local, national and international mission projects. The Church Basement Sale is sponsored the Enon Presbyterian Church Women's Association.

  • Join F.E. Smith Counseling Services for:  Coffee With The Clinician!!  Friday, September 22 from 5 PM-7 PM and Saturday, September 23 from 11 AM-1 PM at Mohawk Coffee House.  An informal and casual opportunity to meet the new therapist in town, Fran Smith, ask questions, and hear about what she does.  RSVP’s appreciated but not required to Mohawk Coffee House or F.E. Have you satisfied that apple dumpling

craving in these chilly months?

 No?!  Well good!  Then you’ve come to the

right bulletin!

The Evangelism and Missionary Committee is planning to set up a fundraiser selling homemade apple dumplings.  You can buy them frozen and eat them whenever you desire.

We would like to start taking orders now and will plan on them being available for pickup starting Saturday, October 14th, from 10am-2pm, and again on Sunday, October 15th from 12pm-2pm after service.

We would appreciate any ingredients that can be donated.   Please see a member of the committee for amounts.  We will need:

  1. Flour

  2. White Sugar

  3. Crisco (the brand) Sticks

  4. Butter

  5. Freezer Gallon Ziploc Bags

  6. Cornstarch

We plan on selling the dumplings for:

  • 6 dumplings for $12

  • 2 dumplings for $4

The profit we make will go to our end-of-year donations to our international missionaries and our local organizations.
