The following items are needed for Project HOPE: Canned Soup and Crackers or any other nonperishable items are welcomed. Monetary donations are also accepted; please make checks payable to Project HOPE Food Bank, and give to our HOPE Representative: Ruth Ann Herman.
Young Adult Bible Study will meet on Monday, November 21, 6:30 pm at MOCO House.
Any information needed to be included in The First Sunday of Advent, November 27 bulletin, please turn it into the office no later than 9:30 am on Tuesday, November 22.
- Due to the Thanksgiving Holiday: The church offices will be closed on Thursday, November 24 and Friday, November 25.
Holy Communion will be celebrated on the First Sunday of Advent, Nov. 27.
A Congregational Meeting will be held next Sunday, November 27, immediately following worship. The purpose of this meeting is to elect officers for 2017. The slate of officers for a (3 year term) is: Elders: Eric Patton and Jay Patton. Deacons: Sally Martin, Janice Young Nominating Committee for 2017: Sally Cunningham, Howard Leslie, Rhodell Magnone, and Brunita McKim. Auditor: Miriam Gwin. We will also approve updates to the church’s bylaws.
Deacons will meet on Monday, December 5 at 6 pm.
Session will meet on Monday, December 5 at 7 pm.
- Project HOPE Christmas Project: There are 56 families in the Mohawk area who will be receiving joy this season from HOPE. Ruth Ann Herman is willing to do the shopping and wrapping for her families, but she needs money for these gifts. Please give your monetary donation to Ruth Ann Herman by Sunday, December 4. The gifts will be given to families on Saturday, December 10.
Project HOPE is also asking for donations of all sizes of hats, gloves, and mittens. A tree has been placed in the Narthex for these items. It will be up until Sunday, December 4. Items donated and items purchased with your monetary donations will be given to the families in need.
Mini Mission Project Opportunity: FeedMySheep is in need of volunteers to help set presents and other Christmas items on tables (no folding this time!). They would like a group of 6-8 people from Bessemer to help on Thursday, December 8th, 2016 from 10am-12pm. Betsy Barr has agreed to car pool from the church and back. Please let Betsy know if you are interested in helping! FeedMySheep is in desperate need for this help to ensure they can start passing out the items before Christmas!
- St. Nick is coming to town on Saturday, December 10 from 9 am-11 am at MOCO. Join us as we discover the Life and Legend of the Real Person behind Santa Claus. Learn the stories and Legends from the Life of St. Nicholas, Fun and Learning for the Whole Family. Crafts and Games. Continental Breakfast will be served. This event is sponsored by C.L.I.C.K.
Cookie Sunday is coming: On Sunday, December 11th, please bring a tray or 2 of cookies during the Sunday School hours and drop them off downstairs. Then after church you can box up the cookies and either take them home to a loved one or send them to be delivered to our shut-ins.
- Presbyterian Women will meet on Wednesday, December 14. Executive Board will meet at 6:30 pm. Our program will follow at 7 pm. Pam Thiry from Feed My Sheep will be the guest speaker for the program. We will be collecting Hygiene Products (Shampoo, Soap, Deodorant, etc.) and also Cleaning Products) for Feed My Sheep.
Babysitting available: Some of our church members have volunteered to watch your kids while you do any last-minute shopping, wrap gifts, or would just like a night out. They will be at the church (in the fellowship hall) from 5pm-8pm on Friday, December 16th. They will be providing a light dinner, games, and movies to keep the kids busy. Please let Betsy or Miriam know if you will be dropping your kids off or if you would like to volunteer for the night (note you will need your clearances on file at the church to volunteer.
Christmas Caroling at MoCo: Bethel Church is hosting the caroling this year at MoCo, but ALL are welcome to join! Stop by on Monday, December 19th, from 6:30pm-9pm to join in the caroling and grab a warm drink!
The Music Club Chorus of New Castle invites us to join them as we celebrate our 76th Presentation of George Frideric Handel’s oratorio masterwork, The Messiah next Sunday, November 27, 3 pm at Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church in New Castle, PA.
