Announcements

  • The Loose Offering today, October 2 will go to the Deacons’ to aid in their ministry.

  • Deacons meeting is Monday, October 3 at 6:00 pm.

  •  A Joint meeting of the Deacons and the Session is Monday, October 3 at 6:30 pm.

  • Session meeting is Monday, October 3 at 7:00 pm.

  • Presbyterian Women’s Doing without Bank Offering will be collected next Sunday, October 9, 2016.    1/3 goes to City Rescue Mission, 1/3 Mercer Food Bank, and 1/3 to Presbyterian Hunger Fund.

  • Next Sunday, October 9 is Project HOPE Sunday!  Project HOPE is our local community foodbank.  The following items are needed: Canned Soup and Crackers or any other nonperishable items are welcomed.  Monetary donations are also accepted; please make checks payable to Project HOPE Food Bank, and give to our HOPE Representative:  Ruth Ann Herman.

  • Presbyterian Women’s Fall Gathering will be at First Presbyterian Church in Sharon on Saturday, October 15.  Registration forms are available on the Narthex table.

  • Mission/Evangelism Committee meeting is Saturday, October 15, 11:00 am at MOCO House.

  • Our church will be sponsoring a booth at the Bessemer Firemen's fair on Saturday, October 22nd. We are asking for monetary donations to help defray the cost. We will be selling Hot Dogs, Walking Tacos, Pop, & Water. Donations can be given to Karen Hutch or Roberta Gibson.  The proceeds will go to the Church Building Fund.  Thank you in advance for helping to make this a profitable fund raiser for our church. 

  • “It's that time of year!!”  We will be planning for our annual Ham loaf Dinner coming in November. Save the date: November 12, 2016.  Watch the bulletin for further details. Any questions, please see Karen Hutch or Roberta Gibson.

  • The Mission/Evangelism Committee is collecting items for Operation Christmas Child. The collection will continue throughout the year with every 3 months having a different designated item requested.  The following items are needed for the month of October:  school supplies, pencils, pens, rulers, erasers, small note pads, crayons, and small coloring books.  Please put your donations in the red bin under the MISSION Bulletin Board in the entry way.  Thank you.

Local Happenings

  • Mt. Jackson Church will do a Fall Bible study on Sunday’s, 10/2, 10/16, 10/30, 11/6, and 11/20 from       6 pm.-7:30 pm.  They will do a series on:  The Reason for God.  How could a loving God send people to Hell? Why does he allow suffering? Can one religion be right and others wrong? We will affirm that our Christian faith is a sound rational belief as we tackle these questions and others.
  • Bessemer Mohawk Rotary Club is sponsoring a Spaghetti Dinner on Sunday, October 23 from 11:30 am-2pm at the Mohawk High School Cafeteria.  The cost is Adults $9.00 and Children (under 12) $4.50.  Tickets can be purchased from Karen Hutch or Sally Cunningham.

  • The Tom Walker Family:  A Southern Gospel Group from New Castle, PA will present a concert Sunday, November 6, 2016,  7:00 PM at our church. A Free Will Offering will be received.  Refreshments will follow.
