Next Sunday, May 12! The following items are needed for Project HOPE: Canned Fruit and Canned Vegetables or any other non-perishable items are welcomed. Monetary donations are also accepted; please make checks payable to Project HOPE Food Bank, and give to our HOPE Representative: Ruth Ann Herman.
Sunday, May 19 is our last day of Sunday Light until mid-August. The Discipleship Committee would like to thank the following teachers and helpers for a great year. Preschool: Roberta Gibson, Serrena Schultz, and Mickie Snyder. Kindergarten: Rhodell Magnone, and Beth Ann Nord. Grades 1-5: Betsy Barr, and Miriam Gwin. Grades 6-9: Pastor Nathan Leslie. Young Adult: Tina Leslie.
On Sunday, May 19, we will welcome into membership Justin and Trevor Dudzenski. Both have completed a year of confirmation classes and will become members by profession of faith. Also on Sunday, May 19, we will celebrate the baptism of four children: Charlee and Frankie Schubert, daughters of Travis & Chandra Schubert; as well as Brecken and Easton Bolland, sons of Deric & Chelsea Bolland. A reception will be held after worship in the fellowship hall.
4G Adult Bible Study will meet Monday, May 23, 6:30 pm at MOCO House.
Beginning Sunday, May 26 through mid-August. Our Sunday morning schedule will be as follows: Worship at 10:00 am.
The deadline to submit information for the June 2018 newsletter is Sunday, May 19. The June 2018 newsletter will be passed out on Sunday, May 26.
Bessemer Presbyterian Preschool Graduation for the 4 & 5 year old class is Friday, May 17, 6:30 pm at our church. Everyone is welcome! Refreshments will follow.
Graduates will be recognized during our 10:00 am worship on Sunday, June 2. Please notify the church office of members graduating from High School, College, or any Higher Learning Institution by Sunday, May 26. Non-members will be recognized in name, so if you have a family member graduating please inform us so that we can include them in our listing.
The Women Birthday Offering will be collected on Sunday, May 5.

Disaster Response Team
Presbytery of Charlotte, North Carolina
The Disaster Response Team of the Presbytery of Charlotte will expand its ministry to support people affected by human-made or natural disasters. PW’s grant will help provide a warehouse, parking lot and security fencing. This new space will hold household goods, food, hygiene, and school kits, and clean-up buckets, and will house mobile shower units and disaster recovery trailers.
Effingham Child Development Center
Inclusive Playground, Effingham, Illinois
In a child’s early years inclusive play environments set the tone for successful future relationships. The Effingham Child Development Center serves children and families of differing abilities and is paving the way for all kids to learn and play together. The Birthday Offering will improve the center’s playground by helping to provide a protective play surface and all-inclusive play equipment.
Presbyterian Homes and Services of Kentucky, Inc.
Good Shepherd Community Nursing Center, Phelps, Kentucky
Presbyterian Homes and Services of Kentucky cares for people who are sick, poor, lonely or vulnerable due to infirmities of age and poor health. This project will improve the quality of life and safety for nursing center residents in the Appalachian region of Eastern Kentucky. PW’s grant will help provide new wardrobes, bedside cabinets, over bed tables, nursing beds, mattresses and lift recliners.
Wings of Refuge Restoration Home, Iowa Falls, Iowa.
Wings of Refuge provides a safe and healing space for women victimized by human trafficking. Without safety and shelter, there is little healing. PW’s Birthday Offering grant will help fund a larger long-term safe home where many more women will find restoration, identity, community, opportunity and hope, and transition into independent living.

“Celebrating God’s Greatest Gift”
Vacation Bible School will be held over two days this year: Thursday, June 20 and Friday, June 21 from 4:30 pm-7:30 pm each evening. We will also serve dinner each evening. The closing program will be Friday, June 21 at 7:30 pm followed by an ice cream social. This year, we will saddle up for a trailblazing weekend of fun! Kids will kick up their heels at Yee Haw VBS as they stampede through the wild frontier and celebrate the greatest truth of all--God is good! Children who are potty-trained through age 10 are welcome to join us.
